How to declutter your beauty collection
A practical routine to declutter makeup, skincare and perfume: what to keep, what to toss, and how to rehome sealed products instead of wasting them.

Short answer
Take everything out, group it by category, and check each product: expired or changed goes, opened and unused for months is a candidate to use up or toss, sealed and in date is a candidate to rehome. Keep what you use every week within easy reach, set a one-in, one-out rule, and swap, give or donate the sealed extras instead of throwing them away.

Questions
How often should I declutter my makeup?
A quick check every three months and a full declutter once or twice a year keeps most collections under control.
How long does makeup last?
It depends on the product: check the expiry date and the open-jar symbol. Liquid eye products have the shortest life after opening; powders usually last longer.
What do I do with sealed products I don't want?
Return them if the store allows, give or donate them, or swap them for products you'll use on SwapMyBeauty.
