What to do with unused makeup and skincare
Sealed beauty products you won't use: your options to swap, give or recycle them, and what you can't do with opened products.
Short answer
If it's still sealed and in date, you can swap it for products you'll use (for example on SwapMyBeauty), give it to someone you know, or donate it where sealed toiletries are accepted. Opened products can't be swapped or resold safely; use them up or recycle the packaging.
Questions
Can I sell unused makeup instead?
You can, but selling means pricing, fees and buyers. Swapping gets you products you want without any money changing hands for the products themselves.
Does makeup expire if unopened?
Yes. Sealed products last longer, but most have an expiry or best-before date. Check the packaging before swapping.
