Safety and authenticity

Every product must be new and unused, authentic, in its original packaging, factory-sealed where the product is sold sealed, and within its shelf life. Opened, used, expired, counterfeit, recalled or otherwise prohibited items are not allowed.

When you list a product you confirm each of those points yourself. Every listing, its photos and declarations are checked before it can appear in Discover or in any swap: first against our rules, then by an automated AI review (three separate checks for fragrance). Anything unclear goes to our team. Listings that don’t meet the rules are rejected with a reason you can act on.

Matching is done by a deterministic optimization engine, not a language model. It decides which swaps are feasible and an independent checker re-verifies every rule before a proposal is shown.

AI checks listings against the same written rules our team uses: it can approve a listing that clearly meets them, and anything uncertain goes to a person. It also helps with details you confirm yourself. AI never decides that a product is authentic and never sets a price. A photo alone cannot prove a product is authentic, and we will never claim it does.

Estimated values come from catalog references when we have them, and are labeled as provisional when we don’t. We don’t invent comparable sales. Values help the engine propose fair swaps; members may still decide an exchange is worth it to them.

Fragrances contain alcohol and are regulated for transport. Fragrance swaps ship one bottle (up to 250 ml) per parcel, by ground only, within the lower 48 states, through carrier accounts approved for that purpose; until then they wait for a manual shipping review and nobody is charged.

A carrier scan shows that a parcel was handed over. It doesn’t prove what was inside or that every member has shipped. That’s why a swap completes only when every member confirms receipt.

Report a problem from the swap page: package not received, wrong or damaged product, product opened, or a suspected counterfeit. Reporting pauses completion and a person reviews the whole swap with every member involved.

We don’t lower anyone’s SwapScore because of a carrier delay or simply because a dispute was opened. We don’t sell paid shipping insurance at this time. If a parcel is lost or damaged, we file any claim the carrier allows on the label and pass what the carrier pays to the member who lost the product. Refunds are explained in our Terms.

Other members see your first name, your SwapScore and how many swaps you’ve completed. They never see your email or address. Your address appears only on the shipping label of a swap you’ve accepted.
